An Overview of Acro’s MSP Services

TechnologyThe Managed Service Providers (MSP) and Vendor Management Systems (VMS) market trends were on the rise in 2012. While the overall market is on the rise some companies are flourishing as others falter.  As we have entered the 21st century the workforce is becoming more specialized and thus standards are increasing.  What separates companies in the staffing industry leads to the gap between success and failure.  MSP’s that provide VMS services seem to have the upper hand.  Kent Stastny, Vice President of MSP Client Solutions for Acro Service Corporation, has been in the staffing industry for 35 years, and more specifically, in the MSP/VMS market since 1999.  Kent joined Acro Service Corporation in 2011 and shared his thoughts on what he believes makes Acro’s MSP Program one of the best in the industry!

What is an MSP? Explain Acro’s MSP solutions process?

An MSP is a Business Process Outsourcer (BPO) that manages all processes required to run an enterprise-wide contingent workforce (temporary worker) program.  The MSP manages an Associate Vendor network (sub contractors) to provide the resources required to support the needs of the organization.  The Acro MSP solutions utilize an organization’s present suppliers who agree to be a part of the program and are augmented, as needed, by suppliers from Acro’s extensive network of suppliers that cover all geographies and all labor categories.  Wherever possible, we focus on using suppliers that are local to an organization’s facility.

Specifically, Acro offers a single point of contact for all temporary labor categories as well as competitive pricing structure for recruited and payroll services.  Acro also has developed its own Vendor Management System (VMS) called XRM System that is deployed to automate all aspects of our MSP program.  Acro establishes a Program Management Office (PMO) to support each MSP program and all program processes are standardized over the entire enterprise.  Sub-contracts expand opportunities for local staffing suppliers.  The MSP solution Acro offers consolidates invoicing and extensive program reporting and performance metric capabilities.

What are Acro’s goals as an MSP?

Reduced costs through application of standardized pricing, policies, and competitive bids for each position. Another goal is to provide a faster delivery of candidates and usage data through the user-friendly automation of consistent candidate delivery and on-boarding processes.  Also important is to improve candidate quality by creating a “level playing field” of opportunity for a larger supply base.  And lastly, our MSP programs significantly reduce administrative burdens for our clients and suppliers, while increasing compliance with all labor laws and client’s policies through automation and adherence to industry “Best Practices “.

Where did Acro begin and how has it evolved as an MSP?

Acro began providing MSP services in 1995, providing MSP services to CMS Energy for their IT and commercial requirements.

What services/industries does Acro’s MSP group specialize in?

Acro presently provides MSP solutions to the Food, Aerospace, Defense, Energy and State and County governments.

What separates Acro’s MSP group from its competitors?

Acro owns the Vendor Management System, eXternal Resource Management System (XRM℠ System), while many of our competitors utilize a third party VMS to manage their programs.  By owning the VMS, Acro is able to customize the application to the exact specifications for the client.  XRM℠ System has been design in a modular format to manage various segments of the market including Payroll Service module (PSR), LI module for Light Industrial/Manufacturing, and a module specific to Statement of Work (SOW) also known as project work.

Why should a client choose Acro’s MSP program? What are some benefits choosing Acro offers?

Acro’s extensive experience in providing MSP services; our ability and experience in providing MSP services for all labor categories, including manufacturing workers (unlike many competitors that provide such services only for professional workers); and, our ownership of an industry leading  VMS application, which eliminates dependence on a third party.  Further, the fact that Acro is a highly successful provider of staffing services to other MSP opportunities gives Acro a unique understanding of the MSP environment, enabling us to create programs that WOW the clients.

How do you see MSP evolving with technology?

MSP services are evolving into more robust services that provide much more information about the overall human capital management for the client.  The services are evolving into a much more in-depth technology platforms that puts more data, information and the ability for a client to analyze more information about their present program and more fully integrated related services, such as rate analysis, as well as access to other sectors of human capital management beyond the traditional MSP/VMS services.

How hands on is Acro throughout the process?

We look at our programs as “High Tech/High Touch”.  The Program Management office (PMO) assists the client through the entire process of obtaining contingent workers and managing the Associate Vendor network.  The PMO is the liaison between the client and the Associate Vendors.  The PMO provides additional services such as information and consulting with the client users on topics including:  IC/1099, proper worker classification, and mitigation of co employment

How does Acro handle any unforeseen problems? Are there any plans in place to ensure efficiency and if so what are they?

At the present time we are dealing with legislation that will affect the services provided.  The Affordable Care Act has components which will increase the cost of providing the service and requires the MSP to assure that the Associate Vendors are compliant with all applicable labor related laws.  We face ‘unforeseen” issues every day, we have processes in place to manage those issues through our defined escalation process.
